I'm currently helping my father-in-law find more information about his maternal grandparents.
What we know:
His grandfather is Anthony Dowd, born 31 Aug 1881 in Easky, Co. Sligo, to Michael and Mary nee Wall (sometimes listed as Walls or Wald). He left Ireland from Queenstown (Cobh) on 20 Apr 1899 and arrived in New York City on 28 Apr 1899. He worked as a conductor for either a RR or trolley in Manhattan and lived in Manhattan until the 1930s when he moved to the Bronx with his family.
He married Margaret (Maggie) Carrigan on 29 Jun 1902 in Manhattan, and they had three daughters, Margaret, Mary, and Rose Dowd. Maggie passed away in 1913, and he married a second time to Bridget O'Donnell. Bridget and Michael had two daughters, Helen and Anne Dowd.
His grandmother was Margaret Carrigan and was born on 24 Apr 1874 in Gubaveeny, Co. Cavan, and she was baptized in Holywell, Co. Fermanagh. She arrived in New York City in 1899 and, from what we know, lived in Manhattan until she passed away. Her parents were Michael and Rose nee McCawley (McAuley). We know of at least one sibling, Phillip Carrigan, who was also born on 13 Jul 1878 in Gubaveeny. He came to the states in 1893 and settled in Tarrytown, West Chester County, New York.
His step-grandmother was Bridget O'Donnell, and we have no information about her other than what is listed on the birth certificates for Helen and Anne and in the 1930 census record from the Bronx.
Any information or help would be appreciated. Thank you all in advance.

J. Rowe:
I located Anthony's birth record and his date of birth was registered as May 15 1881. See last record at the link.
His parents were married in 1867. See second at the link. Note names of fathers were listed on the record.
Besides Anthony, the subscription site Roots Ireland had four other children: Catherine 1869 Patrick 1873 Michael 1877 James 1884
This may be Michael and Mary in the 1901 census in Caltragh http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Sligo/Rathmacurkey/Caltragh/1677998/ If this is the correct family then there are two more children: Thomas and Ellen.
Found Thomas' birth record in 1875. Sixth record https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1875/03087/2131593.pdf
Gubaveeny townland is in Killinagh civil parish in Co. Cavan. Killinagh is the last parish in northeast Cavan on the border with Fermanagh. Margaret had a number of siblings. Rose 1865 and Rose 1867 so likely the 1865 Rose died young. Anne 1867 James 1870 Bridget 1872 Philip 1876
See third record for Philip https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1876/03044/2116082.pdf
Here is the birth record for Margaret https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1874/03149/2154877.pdf

Thank you so much for all of this, Roger! I'm not 100% sure if the census records are them, but only because we haven't sat down to see how that all fits. Going through the rest of what you linked has been incredibly helpful, and I'm helping my father-in-law build his family tree. It's been really exciting for him and my husband. We all really appreciate your help. Julia
