When Patrick married Ellen Murphy in a Glanworth church in Sept 1851  his surname was O'Brien.  He changed his surname to Brien in 1852 & gave the Brien surname to all six of  his chidren. The 1st 4 children were born in the Fermoy Union Workhouse: Mary Brien b.1852, Catherine Brien b.1853, Elizabeth Brien b.1856, Daniel  Brien b.1858.  Ellen T. Brien b. Glanworth 1861 & John J. Brien b. Glanworth 1863.

Using a Name Pattern I have printed Patrick's family tree.

Father's name -- Daniel 1st son

Mother's Father's name - John 2nd son

Mother's Mother's name - Mary 1st dau.

Father's Mother's name - Catherine 2nd dau.

Mother's name - Elizabeth  3rd dau.

Mother's eldest sister's name - Ellen 4th dau

I am trying to learn more about Patrick's parents, siblings , and location of his birth, as well as the family resisdence.

Thank you for your help.  Janet  Kirby

With a very common name of Patrick O'Brien/Brien, you will have difficulty finding a correct baptismal record if it exists. Patrick would have likely been born 1830 or earlier. Glanworth records start in 1836 and Fermoy records in 1827. I searched the subscription site Roots Ireland using Patrick O'Brien with father Daniel and there are records in 1823 1824 1825 and 1828 in various parishes none in Fermoy.

The naming pattern was not followed 100% by all 19th century families.

Have you considered DNA testing? You may get matches on this line who have more info on the family.
