Looking for any information on Patrick McLoughlin, born in Ballinrobe County Mayo, 11th March 1854, died 1896 Liverpool, UK.

His father also called Patrick ( born 1833) was married to Mary Storey., presumably they were from Mayo.

He is my great, great grandfather he was married firstly  to Mary Ellen Walker, then Isabella Jane Baker, widow of Charles Baker. His son my great grandfather John McLoughlin born in Liverpool, was lost in the Lusitania sinking of the Old Head of Kinsale.

Thanks.

Barry Murphy.

I searched the subscription site Roots Ireland and there is a March 11 1854 baptismal record for a Patrick Mc Loughlin father Patrick McLoughlin mother Mary Storey. The record was not in Co. Mayo but rather Co. Antrim. The RC parish was Glenavy and Killead.

Thank you for taking the time to reply, I have seen that record before but discounted it because it was Antrim. My mother always insisted that her g/g father came from Mayo, and doing research I found a record on Ancestry for a Patrick McLoughlin living in Liverpool in the 1881 census. The relationships listed make sense as he was married twice and the names of his wives seem correct. He is listed on the census as coming from Balanrobe Ireland, this has been written by an enumerator and possibly a misspelling of somewhere in Antrim as opposed to a mispelling of Ballinrobe. This could also be the reason for my mother thinking it was Mayo, although there is another slight discrepancy in the dates, he is listed as being 29 in 1881 which would make his birth year 1852, but as you are probably well aware this is not uncommon with old records.

Thanks again for replying and taking the  time to research if you have the time and inclination to research further I would love to hear from you.

There was one fact about the baptismal record which I did not mention in my first response but I will now since it may discount this record. The Roots Ireland transcriber showed that Patrick was illegitimate. I went to the parish register and you can see an apparent " Illeg" annotation next to the March 11th date.   https://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls000633183#page/10/mode/1up
