Dear Galway Connections,
I am seeking information regarding my gg grandfather John Fleming and his family.
Following is the only "Irish" information I have....I have not been successful in finding references to the family in the Irish records. I would really appreciate any assistance or advice on where I should centre my research. Their destination was Adelaide and they all arrived safely. I found them living in Currie Street, Adelaide in the 1841 Census.

Hi Karen
Welcome to IrelandXO.
It will be quite difficult to find a connection as the earliest Church records for Ardrahan are 1839. There is only one mention of Fleming in Griffiths Valuation of 1855. Mary Fleming in the Townland of Caherduff, Ardrahan. This is a Link to death record of Mary Fleming 1800-1885, widow of Patrick Fleming a farmer, in adjoining Townland of Shantallow, Ardrahan
Appears like Patrick Connile/Connole, her Nephew present.

Dear Gerard,
Many thanks for your reply. I wonder if Patrick Fleming might be a relation? As John and Honora named their son Patrick?? It really is difficult tracing Irish ancestry - my deepest appreciation for your reply.
Take care and stay safe.
Kind regards

Hi Karen,
Quite a good chance that they were brothers, their sister married also with a son Patrick Connile/Connole. It was normal practice to call children after their Grandparents.
Have not found a birth record for Connole with Fleming mother.

Dear Gerard,
Yes, I have found the naming ritual in my other Irish ancestors the "Quigley's" - i have four generations of "James" as the christian name. My fahter's cousin maintained we were related to the great Father James Quigley - who was "drawn and quartered at the corss roads".
So perhaps our Patrick Fleming is the man - only wish there were records.
Thank you so much for your help and advice.
Kind regards
