Photograph boghead house

I have searched the British Newspaper Archive for Boghead House. There are various mentions of it eg the death of Colonel Gilmore there in 1863, the marriage of Ellen Sloane of Boghead House in 1916 and a report on Matthew Wilson of same address who was admitted to the RVH in Belfast after a traffic accident on 13th August 1952. He crashed into a bus at the junction of Antrim Rd and North Circular Rd. No-one else was injured. (Belfast Telegraph of same date).

Unfortunately I don’t see any articles with photographs. Frankly I am struggling to think where you would get a photo of a building demolished 50 years ago.

You could maybe try contacting the Antrim Guardian (the local paper) to see if they have a photographic archive. Maybe one of their photographers went there for some reason.

I have a subscription to the British Newspaper Site. 

Belfast Telegraph 14 Aug 1952 also reports death of Matthew on 13th as a result of an accident.  Husband of Amy Wilson, deeply regretted by mother Elizabeth Wilson, niece Mary, brother Samuel, sister in law May & family, Clady Farm, Dunadry.

There are about 5 other notices in that edition from assorted relatives and from Oldstone Masonic Lodge.

Hi Tom, I am very happy to be able to provide you with two photos of Boghead House, Six Mile Water, Muckamore. My 3 x gt grandfather, Col. Joseph Albert Gillmore lived there from 1852 to c 1860. He died at Greenisland near Carrickfergus 1863.
I did research his house and found that the Wilsons were there 1852-57 and also found the car accident report. In fact I am so interested in Boghead House that put a Timeline together for it and the owners. Do you know if your family owned or leased it. In 1852 it was owned by John Boyd Gilmore, a well known Belfast and Dublin Barrister who died 1859 and it seems my ancestor then had to move out. In 1852 J.B.Gilmore's son and son in law advertised it for lease. I have been trying to prove that my ancestor may have been the brother of John Boyd Gilmore without success. The latter J.B.G. had a family but none of them had children. This photo came about because JOseph Albert Gillmore's elderly grandchildren made a car trip from south of england to Muckamore to find their grandfather's grave without success but took these photos of Boghead HOuse. By the way they were dressed it looks like the 1920's. I am still looking for his grave and asked for help on this site a few years ago. I have the burial card but can't find where the grave actually is. We all want to know who the parents of Joseph Albert Gillmore were. At one time JOhn Boyd Gilmore's parents lived at Boghead House. They were John Gilmore and Elizabeth Boyd. Hope this has been of help, well I'm sure it is as you now have the photo you were hoping for :) Kind regards, Vicki (West Australia)
