From what I can ascertain from paper research my gg-grandparents were from Aughaval, Mayo. Philip Heughes b. c1830 married Helen Conway b. c1830. I believe Philip was a Blacksmith. Their daughter Mary Jane Hughes (spelling was changed) b. 18 Aug 1859, married my great grandfather, Neil McArthur (from Islay) in Glasgow on 17 April 1878. It seems that Mary Jane's 3 siblings, Philip, Owen, and Catherine all traveled to Scotland but I can't find any evidence on scotlandspeople of Philip or Helen having moved with them so I'm working on the assumption that they stayed (or perhaps had passed) in Mayo. Are these names familiar to anyone?

    No luck with Helen Conway

    Tried the Scottish Censuses on ancestry.com for Philip & Helen but no luck; not in Irish Census 1851 or 1901 either.

    Looks ike they were there in the 1820's too as the Tithe Applotments  http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/  have 5 in Aughagower
