Looking for information about Richard Prendergast and wife Mary (nee Hart) and their children:James, Ellen, Mary Ann and Bridget. Richard died in 1865 and the rest of the family left Ireland in 1866. Thanks so much!

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I'm having trouble finding records for your family. The subscription site Roots Ireland has records for Kilcolman (Claremorris) RC parish back to 1835 but when I searched I only found one possible lead which is below. The surname of the mother is shown as Hough. Did your family live in Ballygowan?

Roger, I am sure these are my family. They did live in Ballygowen, Claremorris and the name Mary Hough is very close to Mary Hart. Also, the Mary Prendergast you list aligns with the dates we have for our Mary Ann. Thank you so much. This is thrilling
I am unclear about what Ballygowen is- a parish, a city, an area of land? Do you know? And should I be looking for records in Ballygowen? Thank you for any other information you could provide. I so appreciate it!

Bridget:
Ballygowan is a very small townland (88 acres) in Kilcolman civil parish. A townland is the smallest land division in Ireland. Ballygowan is 2.4 miles east of Claremorris town.
