I write from Sydney, Australia.  One of my great-grandfathers was John (alia Michael) Brislane, who I believe was born in Toomevara 1811.  John Brislane gave his father's name as Daniel and his mother's as Anna (nee) Flannery.                                  In April 1834 John Brislane received a conviction for grievous assault and was given 7 years transportation to the colony of NSW.  John Brislane was tried in Tipperary on the 5th April, 1834 with three other men, John Egan, Patrick Deverin and William Tracy.  All four were given 7 years transportation and sailed together on the convict ship Forth.                                                       I know something of John Brislane's life in Australia (he became a farmer in NSW and lived to the age of 90).  I would be interested to know more about his family in Ireland.  For example, did he have siblings?  Cousins?  What work would he have done as a young man?  Would there be Irish descendants of his family living today?  I know he was born quite some time ago but I am hoping that someone has information.
