Hello, I am researching my Padden and Heffron/Heffern ancestors.
My family DNA is specific to Northwest Mayo, likely the Bellmullet area. My Great Great Great Grandparents were Thomas/or Richard Padden(estimated DOB 1810, death unknown) , and Catherine/or Mary Heffern/Heffron (estimated DOB 1809-1814, death unknown). Two of their children, Richard Padden (B 1829) and Catherine Padden (B 1832) emigrated to the US about 1849. Catherine married Thomas Byrne in Kentucky in 1850. I know that Catherine and her brother lived in Wisconsin, then Iowa, and are buried in Pocahontas, Iowa. I descend from Catherine Padden Byrne. (Iowa Death indexes for Catherine and her brother gave me their parents names--I have not yet been able to access the actual death certificates).
I'm an Ancestry member and have researched surnames on Irish Ancestors/John Grenham's site. I've researched tithe records, available censuses and Griffith's. I've reached out to some DNA cousins. Unfortunately, I have found few specific Irish records that document or link my specific family.
Would appreciate any help members have to give. Thank you! Cathy Kohler

Cathy:
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I looked on the subscription site Roots Ireland for Padden baptismal records in Co. Mayo. The Belmullet records have Paddens starting in 1841 and the Kilmore Erris parish records have Paddens starting around 1860. I verified that there were no Padden baptismal records in Belmullet with a mother with surname Heffron.
Here is a link to the 1856 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Kilmore civil parish. I see three Thomas Padden records but no Richard records.

Roger, thanks so much for checking baptismal records for me. The problem is that I need baptismal records for the late 1820's to mid-1830's and they don't seem to exist. Also, I have been focusing mainly on Kimore parish and Bellmullet, and realilze I need to widen my scope and look at other nearby parishes.
It is very possible one of the Thomas Paddens shown in Griffith's 1856 valuation is one of my relatives. There is also a Catherine Padden living in Carne in 1856, she could have been the widow of Thomas/Richard and mother to Catherine and Richard....
On with the search....
Thanks again,
Cathy Kohler
