There is a Stephen Kelly in the Spiddal Parish records, baptized Dec 15,1867. Parents are John Kelly and Anne McGrath. Sponsors names are written as “Pat & Mary Kelly”. All other sponsor entries on the page and adjoining pages are written as first and last name of sponsor #1 and then first and last name of sponsor #2. Does anyone know if there is any significance to the “Pat & Mary Kelly” entry being written this way? This is important to me because I have been searching for records of my gr grandfather, Patrick Kelly, who lived in Spiddal. This is the only record of a Patrick Kelly I have found in the parish records. If the entry being written this way means Pat & Mary we’re married, it can’t be my relative because his wife was Nappy. I have searched John Kelly and Anne McGrath and find no other connection to Patrick. Thank-you for any thoughts.

Hi Miriam,
Thank-you for your reply.
I am familiar with the record of Patrick Kelly, d 31 May, 1876, Derryloughaun. This is a possibility but I have not been able to confirm. There is no civil record for this death.
I have searched the Kelly records in neighboring townlands of Furbo without luck.
Again, I appreciate your response.
