I have a John Dwyer married to a Mary O'Neill on 13 jan 1826 in Cappawhite.They had 8 children
Patrick born 1826,Mary born 1828,Judith born 1830,John born 1832,Judith born 1834,Michael born 1839,Bridget born 1842 and Margaret born1842.I have no information on Patrick ,Judith or Margaret nor any information on when and where John and Mary died.
John (my GG Grandfather), Michael and Bridget came to Australia and I have been able to trace there families. When John came to Australia and selected a parcel of land he called the property Briarfield.I believe that this is an area near Ayle.I have a copy of a letter that John wrote to his son Michael in Australia in 1879 and at that time he was still alive and living in Ayle.I do not know when he died.
Does anyone have any information on who Johns and Marys parents were and there siblings and when and where they died. Also any information on there children Patrick, Judith or Margaret

My 3x great grandfather Daniel O’Neill (Neal) was married in 1818 with Briarfield listed as home. In census records this is town land of Druminda of Cappawhite. Daniel’s granddaughter Honnora O’Neill (my great grandmother), married Richard Mockler of Ayle, Cappawhite. DNA has linked descendants of John Dwyer and Mary O’Neill (m.1826) of Ayle to my family. Add in that John Dwyer son of John and Mary O’Neille named his land in Australia Briarfield, the family connection must be close. Possible that Mary O’Neill and Daniel O’’Neill maybe siblings. I have not found records to confirm. My great grandmother Honnora O’Neill Mockler’s sister Mary O’Neill was still living in the family home in 1920 when she wrote to Honnora in Wisconsin. I have not found Mary’s death record.
Thanks for the response. Janet Jackson Freeh

Hi Greg
Just wanting to ask where in Australia did your Dwyers settle? My 3x great grandmother was Mary Dwyer b 1819 Cappawhite who married John Butler in Cappawhite 1851 and they along with Mary's brothers, John and William Dwyer emmigrated to Australia in 1856, settling in the Cooma/Monaro area of NSW. Mary, John and William's parents were James Dwyer and Jane Ryan.

I have a Mary Dwyer Mary Dwyer (b. ~1790) marries James Fleming (b. ~1790), a labourer, on the 25th February 1811 in Cappawhite, Co Tipperary. Witnesses: Martin Dwyer and Thomas Dwyer.
Five children baptisms found:
- 19th February 1812 Johanna Fleming born Drumwood, Solohead Parish, Co Tipperary.
- 26th June 1816 Mary Fleming born Drumwood, Solohead Parish, Co Tipperary.
- 8th June 1820 James Fleming born Solohead Parish, Co Tipperary.
- 2nd September 1823 James Fleming born Solohead Parish, Co Tipperary.
- 18th September 1826 Juliana Fleming born Solohead Parish, Co Tipperary.
The townland of Drumwood is right near Ayle.
The children had the following sponsors: Margaret, James, and Anna Dwyer. Johanna had a Catherine Dwyer as a witness to her wedding.
Going by naming rules, Mary's mother may have been Johanna (or Mary).
John Dwyer is listed in Milton Damer papers 1787-1798. He rented land in Dromwood (Drumwood). The chances are that he may be Mary's father.

All these names are similar to what was posted above, so probably a link somewhere :)

Hi Greg, Bridget Woods nee Dwyer was my Great Great Grandmother I have a good deal of information on her life and the generations that followed, your ancestor John Dwyer was her brother, I was fascinated to hear that you have a letter from their father to John in Australia. Thanks for the information you posted we always believed Bridget had family that came out to Australia also, it was good to have that confirmed, Cheers Michael

Hello Greg, Michael, Janet and others. As I have mentioned perhaps in another posting, My great-great grandfather Patrick was John, Michael, and Bridget's brother who emigrated to New York. DNA has confirmed this connection. Michael lived briefly in NY, as well, before returning to Ireland, marrying, and then emigrated to Australia. I would love to know more about their families and family trees and perhaps see photographs. The earliest photo I have of the Dwyers dates to ca. 1900. Is there a medium we could use to share more details and perhaps images? I have an image I would like to verify as Patrick perhaps by comparing to his siblings.
Best regards, Susan
