As your trip to Mayo is fast approaching, I would recommend that you visit two places:

1.  Castlebar Library which has a Local Studies Section and is open Tuesday - Saturday.  The link is here and you might phone/email ahead:  http://www.mayolibrary.ie/en/LocalStudies/LocalStudiesProjects/

2.  North Mayo Heritage Centre Ltd.  This is a heritage centre which charges for genealogical research.  However, they may be worth a visit as there may be someone there who can assist you with finding any Carden relations in the Killala area.  Their website address is:  https://www.mayo.me/how-to-find-your-co-mayo-roots
