HI  I also am looking for Murray ancestry in Newport Co Mayo. It is difficult to find. My family is Patrick, David, Michael and Dominck Murray. They moved to Mackinac Island  , M I in the 1840's and I have found some interesting things about them. If it sounds like maybe we are a match let me know   

I wish someone had a family bible to share from that time period.

The townland I have for Patrick's brother John is Logboy (Loughboy)  Today there is very little in the area to indicate there was a community.

I had planned to go to this location myself. Of course, Covid has changed everything.

I am researching a possible brother Owen in Charleston, SC. I have uncovered a great deal about his first son and completed as much as I could to fill out the tree on Family Search. I am trying to locate his children's applications for citizenship, although, I don't believe there is any as all Southerners were granted citizenship after the Civil War.

Jane Halloran Ryan, I also have Murray’s from Derrida, Newport, so we may be very distantly related. My Murrays are way back. I had a Catherine Murray who married Dominick Kearns. Ancestry tells me I have Murray matches in Michigan as well. Hilary Kelly

The closest surname that I am familiar with in the Logboy area to the one you mention would be McNeive.

There was a McNeive family in the townlands of Ballykilleen and Lurgan, both in the vacinity of Logboy.
