Hello, I'm trying to trace my ancestors Thomas Ferguson & Mary (maiden name Craig). They lived in Fairfield, Cregg, Galway, I think? around 1860. Thank you, Fiona

Hi Fiona, I am the volunteer is Drogheda, Louth on the east coast and have been watching your query to see if anyone took it up locally which appears not to be happening so I am contacting you.
I looked up Fairfield on Townlands website and Cregg, there are 3 Fairfields Cregg in Galway. https://www.townlands.ie/galway/
One on the map is near a place on the map named Creggs, the 3rd Fairfield on the list on the townlands site. I think I also have ancestors from around here but no records can be found, they appear to have left circa 1862 and I think with Lord Leitrim who moved to Lough Rynn about this time having sold his land in Galway. This is true but where in Galway I am not sure where exactly but I connect to there.
Rather than discuss theories would you consider mailing me at my site mail here stpeters@ireland.com as I have some matches on Ancestry to those names but unclear how.
There are 6 births with a father Ferguson and Mother Craig on RootsIreland (subscription) but not Thomas or Mary, 3 are in Derry or Londonderry and 3 in Antrim, those post 1864 are on Irish Genealogy which is free but sign in and check civil records as limited church records there. Religious demonination would assist as we look in various church records. https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/en/
