Denis Short and his wife Mary Doran Short immigrated to the New York in 1852.  Census records here show he was born c1820 and according to his obituary was from Tipperary County.  I am assuming that he and his family left because of the potatoe famine.  I don't know if he owned property in Ireland.  I have seen the word Whitepark.  Can you tell if he owned property and does it still exist?  Do you know if he was a farmer?. The census's here show his occupation as mason/stone cutter. I cannot find much information of parents for either Denis or Mary.  Any help you can provide, I would greatly appreciate.

Thank you so much!

I looked at the 1850 Griffiths Valuation at this site  http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/  and it appears he was leasing a little over two acres of land and there was a Francis Short also leasing land.

We have a parish liaison for Roscrea and possibly he can further assist.

  • Thank you so much Roger!  I wonder if Francis Short was a brother?  How could I find out?  Might help me more on the parents of Denis Short.  Also, how do I reach the parish liasion?

    Thank you again!
