The marriage was on February 28th 1870 in the Park RC chapel. Patt was from Derrylahan and Bridget Naree was from Sheeans townland both in Turlough civil parish. The fathers of both the bride and groom were named Thomas. Roots Ireland had baptismal and or civil birth records for eight children: Thomas 1871 Patrick 1872 John 1873 Mary 1874 Michael 1876 James 1878 Catherine 1879 Martin 1885

I took a quick look at the 1901 census and did not see the family. Did they remain in Ireland? Any questions?

Greetings Roger, Thank you for your efforts. I have come across several references to Patrick and Bridget Philbin and I am still confused as I can't so information. This is what I know,before my dad passed he told me his father Patrick was born in 1872.They were from a family  about 5 children Thomas, Patrick (1872), John, Mary, Michael. Thomas emigrated (year ?)to  NYC USA, and married in 1904. Patrick emigrated to NYC  US( year ?), and married Mary A. Hoban in NYC, St Bernard's 1906. I do not know if siblings emigrated,but the parents definitely did not.Other than County Mayo,Castlebar, I was told, as a child my great grandparent's were farmers. I don't know DOB or DOD. I remember meeting some of my father's second cousins, they seemed old to me, but I was just a child. They spoke the Irish language.I also looked into the 1901 census and could not find anyone. I have olny tried  the 'free' access sites. I'm sure I could find additional information if I pay but I am not in that position at the moment. I will contine. I appreciate yout time and efforts. I will keep in touch.

Hi Karen,

I know your originally posting was back in 2018, but I too am originally from Sheeans in Mayo and I would have Neary/Naree ancestors in my family tree, the village of Sheeans/Sheeaune has  even today stilll has quite a few families of Nearys living there, My own great grandmother was a Neary- Margaret - I will have a look at what I have done on my family tree.
