Hi, I am researching Hugh Brady and family from Ballina. Hugh was born in 1901, apparently according to my older cousins who spent there early childhood in Ballina with my Grandma Emily there was an uncle ( Hugh's brother) aunt and cousin who lived in a neighbouring town of Bonniconnelin. They are unsure of the uncle's name, possibly Micheal. His wife was Mary Kate and the son had learning difficulties. If anyone could help me with details of the brother and his familys history I would be very grateful.
His parents were Hugh Brady and Catherine Ginley.
Many thanks xx

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I located the 10 year old Hugh in the 1911 census with his parents living in Graffy in Kilgarvan parish near Bonniconlon. The mother was Catherine Gainly from her 1894 marriage record below which shows the names of the fathers.
Is the McGuinness family living with the Bradys, the family you are looking for?

Thanks for your reply Roger, the person I am looking for is Hugh's brother, Hugh is aged 10 in this census. My Dad talked of the McGuiness family living with them, sadly Dad died at the end of last year.
Dad was always interested in any family history that I unravelled. I appreciate your help, many thanks xxPimble

I searched the free site www.irishgenealogy.ie in the Ballina registration district from 1894-1911 and the only Brady birth record was for an Agnes Brady who had parents John Brady and Mary Ginly and they also lived in Graffy. https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_retur…;
Since I noticed that Hugh Brady Sr. was a widower when married, I also searched from 1864-1893 and did not find a record. Maybe he was born in a different area?

Thanks for your reply Roger, this is very interesting as I believe this is part of our family. My Nan often talked of Agnes Brady, a cousin who had emigrated to Philadelphia USA, she was in contact with her until she died. Grandad Hugh was in the 1901 census in Sallymount, the same area. It's interesting to find that Great Grandad was married before, I also searched but to no avail to find a previous wedding. Is there anyway that I can find where he would've lived before 1901? I checked the census but he's not in the 1851 in Mayo.
Thanks again for your help, I'm quite excited now, you never know maybe we still have relatives of this family still in Mayo xPimble

Most of the parishes in that area of Mayo have records starting late so I don't think a marriage record lead is available. (Both you and I had no luck finding a record).
There are no full census records available prior to 1901. The Griffths Valuation is the best alternativre but I think your Hugh was too young to be listed as a head of household in 1855.
