Daly from "West of Oranmore", 1840s

Hi all. 

First, to get introductions out of the way, I have two ancestors from this region. One of them is Thomas Warren Davies, son of Bedelia Ann Blake, dau of Captain Michael Blake of Kiltullagh and Frenchfort. These people, I know enough about for now. 

Thomas Warren's daughter married James Daly, "from Galway". My great-uncle toured the area and discovered that the Dalys were from "West of Oranmore". Very oddly, this prolific writer did not record WHY he thinks this is the locatiion. (He also thought the Davies came from Athenry, and they didn't, not really. That is just where some of them lived for a bit. But I digress.)

What I know:

The Dalys were not poor. They most likely were merchcant class.

The Dalys were Catholic.

The Dalys are realated to Joynt; 3 Joynt brothers were "half brothers" to the Daly clan. The matriarch of this clan was Ceclia or Celia, maiden name unknown. (b  maybe 1809, d Jun 1881 in San Francisco.) Patriarch, name unknown but possibly Patrick, James or John, appears to have died before 1849.

John Daly (b abt 1825); Bernard Daly (b abt 1827), Mary Ann Daly (b abt 1828), James Daly (b abt 1830), Delia Bridget Daly (b Nov 1830), Margaret Daly (b abt 1832), Rose Daly (b abt 1835), Jane M daly (b abt 1836), Julia J Daly (b 1847), Anna Daly (b 1849). All whose deaths are known died in or near San Francisco, CA.

Cecelia, John, Mary Ann, Margaret, Rose, Jane, Julia and Anna came to America *cabin class* in June 1849. (Anna was born at sea.) All but John first went to Albany, NY then to San Francisco. Also with them was at least one of the Joynt boys.

Meanwhile, James, Bernard and John went to Sacramento, CA. I have not been able to find immigration records for Bernard and James. By 1851, James Daly (my gggrandfather) was owner of a fine saloon (The Indian Queen) in Sacramento. By 1854 he owned 3 saloons, was a fireman, a city Alderman, and married to my rather young gggrandmother.

When he ran for Alderman, the newspaper said that he was a "self-made man", but this conflicts with his siblings sailing cabin class. 

He was written up in the book "Sacramento Gold Rush Saloons: El Dorado in a  Shot Glass" (Special Collections of the Sacramento Public Library), which imiplies that the main branch of his Indian Queen Saloon was something like 3rd or 4th best in the city. (There were a whole lot.)

Bernard later bought out James and was sole owner of the Indian Queen. (Then he disappears.) John was a thug man for a mining company and later was hanged for murder. 

The only way I can see the Dalys being from "West of Oranmore" is if James, Bernard or John had been working at a hotel in Rinville, but I have no way of finding this out. Griffith's doesn't admit to hotels and Rinville was too small to be written up in Thoms.

Any clues about where else to look are appreciated! (I have subscriptions to Ancetry - international records, Brittish Newspaper archives and a short-term subscription to rootsireland.). I have the book "History of the O'Dalys" ...

I simply find it hard to believe that they can't be found. James certainly didn't stay out of the newspapers when he was in America!
