I have a distant relative who was born in County Mayo in 1826.  I am after information on who her parents and other relatives might be.  She married Patrick Gill from Crusheen Galway who was born in 1821.  I don't have information on the date of the marriage. They moved to Australia where she died in 1894.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thank you

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I checked the susbscription site Roots Ireland and did not find a marriage for a Bridget Barry to a Gill anywhere in Ireland. If they were married in Ireland, likely the church no longer has records back to their date of marriage. The earliest Bridget Barry baptismal/birth record in Mayo on Roots Ireland was in 1864.

Crusheen is a town in Co. Clare  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crusheen   There is a Crusheeny townland in Lackagh civil parish in Co. Galway. RC records for that area start in 1842.

You may want to add Bridget and Patrick's story to our XO Chronicles site  https://www.irelandxo.com/ireland-xo/history-and-genealogy/ancestor-dat…

You may want to consider DNA testing.

  • Thanks for your reply Roger.  I am about to get the DNA kit.  I ordered it a few days ago.
