My GG Grand parents are James Ford and Sabina Coffey.

(I am wroking from transcripts posted by the East Galway Family History Society.)

Per Church Marriage Record for Ahascragh/Killosolan Thomas Ford mnarried Margaret Lawless 24-Jan-1849.

Per Caltra Church Baptism Record Catherine Forn was born 25-Dec-1848 to Thomas Ford and Margaret Lawless.

Per Caltra Church Baptism Record James Ford was born o1-Jul-1850 to Thomas Ford and Mary Lawless.

Per Caltra Church Baprism Records Martin Ford was born ? (baptized 21 -Nov-1852) to Thomas Ford and Mary Lawless.

QUESTION:

Is Thomas Ford the same person for all four children?

Is this the same union  with Margaret and Mary Lawless the same person or is it two separaet uions?  I find no record of a marriage between Thomas Ford and Mary Lawless.

Also, can anyone shed any light on the parents and siblings of Thomas Ford and his subsequent generations?

  • Hi Felix, if the townland is given it is probably correct each time, it is also fairly certain the Mary / Margaret is the same person, the priest may have forgotten the correct name by the time he made the entry, you can read the actual record here but it is not searchable except by month and year and read carefully https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0535 

    I am assuming there is not a volunteer locally as your query has been here a few days, however I have some Galway ancestry and there are a few Galway Facebook pages run as private groups, both on county and area basis, apply to join if on FB and ask, most people on the sites are helpful I find but you do not often get first class info but you may find a relative, also search FB for local names or area sites that post old photos etc
