G-Grandmother, Ann Garry/Gorry (b. 1857? Kells?), moved to USA; married John J. Sheridan (b. Meath, 1847). She returned to Meath in 1927 and married Peter Hynes in Kells.  They might have lived in Ballinlough, Meath.  She is buried in the RC church at the major intersection; in a Hynes plot.  Any ideas for connections?       Am looking for any siblings Ann might have had who remained in the Kells area.  Her parents were Patrick Gorry/Garry and Catherine Monahan/Monaghan of Carnaross.        Thank you everyone!                                                                                                                                                                Ann Marie

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I searched on the subscription site Roots Ireland and found the baptismal record for Anne in Carnaross RC church. Carnaross is the RC parish just to the north of Kells. Anne had four younger siblings that I located on Roots: Patrick 1864 Catherine 1866 Mary 1868 Bridget 1870 The parents were married in Kells in January 1857. See below.

Civil registration of births started in 1864. I located the record for Mary but can't clearly read the townland. I was not able to find the record for Patrick, Catherine and Bridget.

I did not find a civil marriage record for Anne Sheridan and Peter Hynes.

  • WOW!  Thank you AGAIN so very much for this information!!                It expands my tree in both directions!           NOW, I wonder if the female witness from the 1928 second wedding (Mary Masterson) had the maiden name Gorrey (the sister of the bride.....).      Is there a place online where I would best search for her wedding?  Am thinking it might be the same place (Kells) that Annah/Anna/Anne got married......the family seems to be from that area and seems to have stayed.      And now I will try to trace Anna's younger siblings.....I wonder if we have relatives still in the area?!?  She was the eldest and passed in 1935, which was not really all that long ago!                      THANK YOU for giving me a new research direction!!!   You are such a wonderful resource!!!   With gratitude,              Ann Marie
