I am trying to find baptisms of George HILL and Robert HILL or indeed any information about their origins. This is what I know.
George HILL -
Birth: abt.1804 in Castlegar, County Galway, Ireland
Marriage: 20 Oct 1825 in Tuam, Co. Galway, Ireland; to Sarah CONNOLLY Witnesses - Thomas LEONARD and
J.N. FAULKNER
Occupation: 1843 in Ahascragh, Galway, Ireland; Steward to Sir James Ross MAHON
Death: 21 Feb 1885 in Oranmore, Co. Galway, Ireland
Burial: 24 Feb 1885 in Oranmore, Co. Galway, Ireland; Minister W.D. ROE Rector of Athenry
Robert HILL: -
Birth: Abt. 1811 in Castelgar, County Galway, Ireland
Marriage: 20 Jan 1838 to Mary Anne WHEATLEY in Ahascragh, Galway, Ireland
There is also another brother? Richard HILL who married Rebeca HANLEY in 1826 in County Meath but I have no further information of him. His granddaughter Louisa Anna HILL was born in Donabate but baptised in Ahascragh, Co. Galway so there must be some connection
I am visiting Galway from New Zealand in July 2018 and would like to visit the grave of George. All I know is he was buried in Oranmore in 1885 and was Church of Ireland.
Any help you can give me would be wonderful

Hello Lou,
Welcome to Ireland XO, Reaching Out, My name is Clare Horgan from Claregalway. I thought for a second that the Castlegar you were talking about was the parish near me and Oranmore but yours is nearer to Ballinasloe. Birth Record do not go back to early 1800's but as he was COI there might be a private record somewhere.
Great research on your part. You are extremely lucky that they are Church of Ireland and that all the George Hills I found seem to be the same person even though he got around. I did find, as you did, his death record as you did but unable to locate his grave yet. I do know some people in the Oranmore area, the parish next to Claregalway, that might be able to locate it if he is indeed buried in Oranmore. As he was COI he might be buried at Vesey Lodge, where I believe, he lived in Oranmore. or might be buried somewhere else. I found this link below, which you may have found too. It is names of people buried in the old graveyard in Oranmore. I had a quick look and could not find him there. It is of the RC Graveyard though. Will try and make contact today with someone who might be able to help.

I’m looking for relatives of mine but haven’t had any luck. I’m trying to trace a Ellen Hill who was sent to Van Diemen Land as a convict. She was around 20yrs of age and had two children while a convict, the first was a girl who passed away and later a son in 1854 that she called Joseph.
