Hello all.
I'm looking for information on the family of Michael Hallinan and Bridget Callinan of Ballinamantan, Gort, Co. Galway. I believe my grandmother Katie who I lived with for 20 years to be their child. She was born was born Oct 31 1889 and came to New York in 1911 . She married Patrick Kelly here in 1917. Her siblings in Gort according to family notes were Joseph, John, Michael, Delia and Margaret.
I've only recently inheritied these handwritten notes which are very detailed as to farm life, emigrations, illnesses, etc. Nana also told me many stories about Lady Gregory who regularly visited her farm with a "Mr. Yeats" who did sketches of the house and kitchen.
As I've had no luck finding Nana's birth record online or at the GRO in Dublin I am looking for help in tracking it down via Parish records. Any help appreciated and of course I'm happy to share what I can. My own email is kurtsteele@yahoo.com and I am in New York.

Dear Arcticranger:
Thank you for your query and welcome to the Ireland Reaching Out message board. We have a very knowledgeable volunteer in Gort who will be able to assist you with your family research. I will copy your post and let her reply.
Kind regards,

Hello, thanks for responding. We have had a tornado here in New York state, which is unheard of, but a lot of trouble with internet. Please bear with me!

Hello All,
Sister DeLourdes Fahy has sent me a family tree which is enormously helpful. I now can look back to my great grandparents.
I hired a firm to request Katie Hallinan's birth record from the GRO and that was not found. They issued a "no trace of birth record" letter. Now I must request a baptismal record search which I expect to come up empty.
Of coruse I do have the 1901 and 1911 censi. Thanks Liam.
I'll post my progress.
