i am decendent from a James Walsh. He resided in Derycooldrim and "Shraloga" as he wrote it. I believe this may have been Sloger, but my father's pronunciation carried down through the generations certainly matches the spelling "Shraloga".

Anyways, James Walsh immigrated and settled in Syracuse, NY. He is listed as a resident in Syracuse, NY by 1885. In addition another Walsh family Edward and Bridget Walsh and their sons John P Walsh and James E Walsh resided next door. Edward's children also worked at the same place as James Walsh Sr. son-in-law. There are enough connections between occupation, place of business, and the names of their children for me to believe at this point that Edward Walsh and James Walsh were brothers. So now to connect them to Ireland.

Here is my question in case anyone can help. I have found an Edward Walsh and a Bridget Jennings Walsh listed as living in "Shraloga", Mayo. I don't know how to tell if they immigrated and if they could be a match to the family in Syracuse. Any thoughts on an Edward Walsh born about 1847 is appreciated. He might have immigrated between 1880 and 1882 like his brother. According to James' death notice in Syracuse in October of 1912, it is possible that Edward (and James') parents were Patrick and Francis (Cowels?) Walsh.

Thanks in advance!!
