I am looking for my husbands great grandfather Bryan Fitzpatrick. I think he lived in Longford before immigrating to New York City Usa in about 1865. I think he was born around 1844 and his parents were Bartholomew and Anne Pickett.

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I did a number of searches on Roots Ireland not only in Co. Longford bur all of Ireland and did not locate a baptismal record for Bryan. ( I actually searched for records where the first name started with a B.) What was the religious denomination since Roots Ireland does not have records for all of the Church of Ireland parishes.
If Bryan was RC, he may have been baptized in a parish that no longer has records back to 1844.
Any other family info? Siblings to Bryan?
You may want to add Bryan's story to our XO Chronicles site https://www.irelandxo.com/ireland-xo/history-and-genealogy/ancestor-dat…
Have you considered autosomal DNA testing?

Tthank you for getting back to me so quickly. I am not sure about the year of birth. The records here in NY all have a different year on them. It could be anywhere from 1844 to 1850. He was Catholic. There are no siblings that I know of, that was one of the things I was hooping to find out, there were none in NY that I can find. The only other bit of information i know is that his mother Anne came to NY in 1877 and passed in 1882. She was listed on the census as a widow so I don't know when Barthomew passed.
George, my husband did do the DNA testing through Family Tree DNA and did sign up for the Fitzpatrick research project. He just sent in his DNA to Ancestry yesterday.

I looked for civil death index records from 1864-1877 (civil registration of deaths started in 1864) in the Granard registration district and there were no Bartholomew Fitzpatrick records.
I also searched the 1854 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Co. Longford and there were no Bartholomew or Bartley records.
I also went back and searched the 1833 Tithe listings and no Bartholomew/Bartley but there were other Fitzpatricks in Granard parish.
To expand your husband's DNA matching pool, he may want to load his raw DNA data to Gedmatch www.gedmatch.com
Gedmatch is a volunteer run site where you can load your DNA data and see if you match someone who tested with another company (and also loaded their data to Gedmatch).

Thanks Roger for all your effort, appreciate you looking. As soon as he gets his results back from Ancestry I will upload it to Gedmatch. Thanks for the advice. Sue

Sue,
I found the following children of Bartholomew Fitzpatrick & Ann/Anne Pigot/Pigott baptised in the Glanworth RC Parish records, County CORK:
Redmond (1840) - mother's christian name given as Catherine Pigot
Jane (1841)
James (1845)
Ann (1847)
Ellen (1850)
The surname Pigot/Pigott is sometimes pronounced as Pickett.
Even though I did not locate Bryan Fitzpatrick, based on the above it appears as if your familyare from County Cork and not from County Longford. Perhaps James was Bernard/Bryan James or James Bernard/Bryan.
Do any of the above christian names ring any bells as being family names in your family tree (especially the more unusual Redmond or Jane) ?.
All the Best,

David,
I am so excited , I think you found our family. The names do all match. I have Anne Picketts death certificate here in NY and it lists her father as Redmond.
Bryan also had seven sons and many names are repeated. His first was Bartholomew, second Redmond, there was also a Bryan John, and a James. The daughters were Anne and Mary.
In two of the cesus records Bryan is listed as Bernard. I can't figure that out. Where did you get Bernard from? Bernard/Bryan James? Are the names Bernard and Bryan related?
Do you think Catherine and Anne are the same person?
I had only thought they were from Longford because on the ship manifest it listed Bryan's last place of residence as Co. Longford. It was a place to start.
So, can I see the bptismal records or get a copy of them? How would I go about that?
Thank you so much. It would be so exciting if we have cousins in Ireland.

David,
PS, I found, on Ansestry, the Baptismal records for Anne and Ellen listing Ann Pigot and Bartholomew Fitzpatrick as parents, I added them to my tree and found that Ann had also immigrated to New York and married and had a large family.
I also found the Baptismal record for James, listing Kate Pigot as mother and Bartholomew Fitzpatrick father.
Do you think Kate, I'm thinking nickname for Catherine, and Anne are the same person?
Couldn't find Jane or Redmond.
Do you think Anne and Bartholomew were married in Glanworth?

Sue,
That’s great, we have indeed found your ancestral family, not in County Longford, but in County Cork. Here’s a couple of websites in relation to Glanworth in County Cork which you may be intereested in:

https://www.townlands.ie/cork/glanworth/
Yes, Bartholomew Fitzpatrick & Anne Pigott were married in Glanworth RC Parish, County Cork. The Parish records for Glanworth Parish commence in 1836, and on further examination I found the following on the National Library of Ireland website:

The Fitzpatrick/Pigott family appear to have been living in Glanworth Townland in Glanworth RC Parish during the period 1840 – 1850. Perhaps Bryan Fitzpatrick was born and baptised in the gap period 1842 – 1844, but I could not find any record of his baptism.
Yes, the Christian name Bernard can be abbreviated to Bryan or Brian & Catherine can be abbreviated to Kate.
You are correct, it was James Fitzpatrick’s mother who was given as Kate, I’d say this was an error on behalf of the Priest who recorded the baptism, easy enough to do, especially when the sponsor’s name was Kate which could have confused matters.
Unfortunately, no burial records appear for Glanworth RC Parish but I found a reference to a death of a Bartholomew Fitzpatrick in Fermoy Union (which contains Glanworth Townland), County Cork who died at the age of 80 in 1876 who could be the Bartholomew Fitzpatrick who married Ann Pigott.
Send me on a copy of the ship’s manifest stating that Bryan Fitzpatrick’s last place of residence in Ireland was County Longford (my native County), my email address is davidleahy @ eircom.net [without the space either side of the @ symbol]
Hoping this helps further,
