I author a family researach site here in Australia, www.dcaldlan.com
My connection to Ferbane is via my 2x great-grandfather, John Thomas Larkin (b 1828) he changed his name in Australia to Lorkin. He came from Ferbane and his parents were given as Michael Larkin (b approx 1800) and Mary Cantwell (b. approx 1800).
He had a brother Thomas Larkin (b. 1830 d. 1903) who as I understand remained in Ferbane.
He also had a brother Michael Larkin (b. 1832 d. 1906) who I know moved to the US and settled in Monroe NY. (I'm in contact with a cousin there).
Many of us out here in Australia have been trying to research our connection in Ferbane and have only had limited success in connecting our Larkin and Cantwell ancestry.
Any assistance would be gratefully received.

I think I found some info which may be helpful. I located a transcription on Roots Ireland of the baptismal record for John. The transcription showed Mary Cantfield as the mother. Looked for baptismal records for Michael and found an 1830 record which shows Catherine Cantwell as the mother. Did not find a record for Thomas. I located an 1853 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Wheery or Killahhally civil parish (which includes Ferbane) and there was a Michael Larkin in Kilcolgan More townland. See link below. In the 1901 census (link below), I found Thomas Larkin (age very understated) with his wife Bridget and three children in Kilcolgan More. I then located the December 1902 death record for Bridget and the 1903 death record for Thomas. See links below. I also included the 1911 census which showed that the son Michael had married and his unmarried sister Catherine was with him. See below.
