I have managed to track down my great great grandfather who is listed in various records as Martin Noon. He was married to Catherine McLoughlin in 1854 in Fenagh. They had 9 children one of whom was my great grandfather, Patrick Joseph Noonan who emigrated to New York City in 1886.. I even found Patrick on a ship's passenger list. However at some point the name changed to Noonan so originally I had a rough time finding Martin Noon. I worked from the death certificate from NYC in 1932 which listed Martin Noonan and Catherine McLoughlin. I would like to verify Martin's date and place of birth which I believe is 1829. I am also having some difficulty finding Martin's parents. Can you point me to a tool that might verify this information?
Also, some of the family did not emigrate. Is there a way to determine if there are any descendants still in the Leitrim area? Thank you.

Sorry, you did not hear back from the Fenagh parish liaison. I took a look at Roots Ireland and searched from 1824-1834 in Leitrim for a baptismal record for Martin Noon or Noonan and got no record. There is a gap in the Fenagh RC records from October 13, 1829 to November 24, 1834 so if he was from Fenagh and born in the gap period, a record will not be available.
I looked at the 1901 census for Fenaghbeg townland and there was one Noon occupied by two younger sons James who was married and Joseph the youngest. In 1911, only Catherine the wife of James was in Fenaghbeg with her children. She was shown as married. No sign of James or Joseph. I assume all the other children had left and emigrated.
I did find an 1897 death record for Martin Noon and he was shown as a widower. I was unable to find a death record for Catherine.

Hi Roger, I did find that death notice for Martin Noon and it listed Mohill as the place of death. I couldn't find Catherine either but I found a family tree that indicated 1895. Many thanks!
