Looking for information on the family of John Kelly and Margaret Henery. They likely were born late 1700's or very early 1800's. Had children including Mary Ann circa 1817, William A circa 1822, and David Franklin in 1838. They lived on a farm in Drumbarragh(Drumbarach), Kileevan, Co Monoghan, Ireland in 1838 at the birth of David Franklin. David Franklin was baptised by Rev. T.H. Montgomery. The children listed immigrated to the United States and lived in New York and Vermont.

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I checked the townlands for Killeevan civil parish and there is no Drumbarragh. However, there is a Drumbaragh townland in Aghabog civil parish just to the east of Killeevan. In fact, the 1861 Griffiths Valuation head of household for Aghabog parish shows a John Kelly in Drumbaragh.

Can you provide a copy of the 1838 baptismal record for David Franklin? What parish? Aghabog RC records start in 1840 and Killeevan in 1871.

As requested! He needed to document his age and had this sent over in November 1910.

I was under the assumption that the place referenced was the location listed on this map about 1000 feet East of Killeevan.

That 1910 baptismal record is a great treasure. Obviously some time after 1910, the parish register prior to 1867 was lost which is very unfortunate. Great OSI map also. I just checked Drummullan which is right above Drumbaragh and it is also shown as being part of Aghabog civil parish. Likely the parish line between Killeevan and Agahabog is just to the east of the village of Killevan.

I checked the 1901 census and there were no Kellys in Drumbaragh or any of the townlands in the Killeevan DED.

www.irishgenealogy.ie has civil death record indexes and actual images starting in 1891. Birth and marriage record images are also available for certain years.

I found an index record for a John Kelly death in the Clones registration district. This John Kelly was age 80 according to the informant.  NameJOHN KELLYYear of Death1867Group Registration IDN/RSR District/Reg AreaClonesDeceased Age at Death80Returns Year1867Returns Quarter1Returns Volume No3Returns Page No133

I could not find a good index record for Margaret and likely she died before 1864.
