My ancestors, Patrick Meagher and wife Mary came to Baltimore, Maryland about 1815. Patrick also came again with a five year old child J Meagher in 1820. They had a daughter Margaret and son John with them born in Ireland and then had Joseph in Baltimore in 1813. I believe the J Meagher was the John Meagher. From looking at hundreds of parish records I believe Mary Corbett married Patrick in 1810, then they had John in 1811 and then Margaret in 1815. They also had a son Thomas. Is anyone familiar with a Meagher family who married a Mary Corbett in 1810, started a family and then went to Baltimore, Maryland about 1815.

Hello Linda,
My name is Chris Hughes. My paternal great grandfather was Thomas Gleeson, born and baptised in the parish of Boherlahan. He was baptised on 7/4/1810, his parents were Matthew Gleeson and Ellen Gleeson. The two sponsors were a Margaret Farrell and a Thomas MEAGHER. It may be that Thomas was a relative of your Patrick who emigrated to Baltimore. As part of my own research, I came across the 1766 Religious Census for Ballysheehan, the civil parish covering Boherlahan. In that census, there are three MEAGHERS mentioned, a Thomas, John and Pierce. Perhaps they were related to your Patrick - perhaps older relatives - who knows?
Anyway, thought I would drop you an email in case it might help. Please feel free to contact me again if you have any further queries.
Regards,
Chris Hughes
