Hi, I am trying to find more information on my husband's family. They originally lived in Donegal County (Killibegs)

Bridget Bern (b. around 1812/1813- d. 1887) married around 1832, John Conwell (b. around the same time)

They had 3 children: Thomas, Patrick & Ann

If you know the parents of either or both of them it'd be great help! Thank you for any information.

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

The baptismal records for Killybegs parish do not start until 1850 and Roots Ireland does not have their records online. Here is a link to the parish register from 1850-1880. http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/1019

Did Bridget and John stay in Ireland? If they remained in Ireland, possibly your John Conwell is the one shown in the 1857 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for the civil parish. There are many Conwells in the parish but the only John was listed in Cashelcummin.

  • They did stay in Ireland. We have a family book that states Killybegs so I thought I would start there. That could be wrong or maybe I'll find it in the link you sent me. Thank you! We know very little about John and Bridget and would love to find more. Thank you for any of your help.

www.irishgenealogy has index records and actual images of death records from 1891 on. They plan to add the images for 1864-1890 at some point. The site is experiencing some technical difficulties currently. Killybegs Upper parish is in the Glenties registration district. I did find two index records that could potentially be for your ancestors. There was no Bridget Conwell record in 1887. I would wait for the 1864-1890 images to come online and then check out the records.
