lanigans in Gortagarry

We are looking for information on a Lanigan family from Gortagarry. Our great great grandfather Patrick Lanigan born about 1828. a brother Michal born 1833, brother Thomas born 1830. Parents might be Thomas Lanigan and Mary McCarthy. There are family stories of 12 siblings. We know nothing about the girls but there may have been seven sons total. The other buys might have been William born @ 1836, John born @ 1838, Richard born @ 1841, David born @1846. There is a family story that the father worked as a manager for the logging crew for teh MArquis of Waterford. The story is that he died in Ireland and the family went to England. We did find a 1851 Wales census that has the mother Mary as a widow and all of the boys but no girls. We are not sure that census is them, but are growing more confident. Our great great grandfather Patrick ended up in Cortland NY and raised his family there. His brothers Thomas and Michael ended up in Pennsylvannia and eventually settled in Minnesota. We have direct links between these three brothers in the US but havent found the other brothers or the mother or any sisters. WE think the parents names are right because they are on MIchael's death records. The youngest son David may have been born in Wales. We know they are from Gortagarry due to new family members we have just found who know this for a fact.  So, we ahve been unable to find any records from Gortagarry. Is this because the records were burned in Dublin in a fire and also due to no census during the famine years? so does this mean that searching for birth and marriage records for this family will never be found? Is there a church in Gortagarry that has beenthere since the early 1800's?  We would appreaciate any help. I have posted on other boards but now that we know the town for sure i thought I would try here.
