Hurley, O'Brien, O'Loughlin

Hi everyone!

My great great grandfather was Patrick "Paddy" Hurley. He was a gardner at the Ashley House in Nenagh in 1901 and probably earlier. He married Mary Morcan or Morkan and they had one daughter that I know of, Mary Hurley, born 1867. The daughter, Mary, had two sons with an un-named person. My grandfather Edward Joseph Hurley was born in the workhouse in Nenagh in 1896. He served in WW2, married my grandmother Katherine O'Brien also born in Nenagh in 1896. They emmigrated to the United Statesin 1919 and 1920.

Edward or Ned as he was called had a brother named William born 1892 in the workhouse. William joined the Dragoon Guards and also fought in WW1. I lost track of him after 1915 when he appears on the English census in Aldershot, England.

My grandmother, Katherine O'Brien was the daughter of Mary Catherine O'Loughlin and John O'Brien, a plumber. He died about 1902 in the workhouse. John's father Patrick Brien was also a plumber or tinman. Mary O'Loughlin's father was Michael Loughlin and her mother was Rosanne Hazell born County Clare and died in Nenagh about 1887. Mary and John O'Brien had thirteen children:

• Paddy born 1887
• Michael born 1890/died 1892
• Bridget born 1891 (might have gone to Australia)
• William born/died 1893

Other children: 

• Mary Elizabeth born 1883 died in Northampton, MA
• John born 1881 died in Northampton, MA
• Rosanne born 1900
• Peter James "Jim" born 1894/died Connecticut.
