    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I presume you don't have the names of the parents of John. I checked Roots Ireland and they had an 1810 baptismal record in the St. Mary's records. Transcription shown below. There were also records in 1812 and 1813. Do you have any sibling names?

  • The Slattery name is all over Madison County, London, OH. It is a name that is connected with my family of Callahan, Fraher and others. St. Patrick Cemetery, London, OH on Route 56 is full of the names Slattery, Gilmartin, Ryan, Campion, Fraher, Callahan. Many of the people from 3 generations, ago, came from County Tipperary, near where counties Cork, Tipperary and Waterford converge. My sister and I were after combing that cemetery only 2 days ago. We must have spent a couple of hours, but we did locate everyone grave, but for Michael Charles Ryan, who we know is there, but doesn't have a grave marker. There is a large Slattery monument at St. Patricks Cemetery in London, OH.

BTW. We're looking for Margaret Britt Callahan who was born 1789 in Clonmel. I've added a photo of her as an old woman, along with the letter that accompanied the photo (made from a tintype) from Tom Slattery, who lived in Mt. Sterling, OH (not far from London, OH).

  • More background provided to me in regard to Slattery/Fraher/Callahan and the photo of Margaret Britt Callahan.

Background explanation of relationship of Fraher/Callahan/Slattery from Steve Slattery to Ellen Crawford Scherer Mar 11, 2006. The photo of Margaret Britt Callahan is mentioned as is the relation Slattery's to Callahan/Fraher. "I have mentioned the Fraher and McNamara connection, and my connection to McNamara, which is my grandmother Catherine McNamara married James Edward Slattery. The James McNamara who married Nora Fraher was my grandmother’s uncle. James had two sisters (my grandmother aunts Margaret and Mary) and they both married Slattery’s, but they are probably not related to me! Margaret Married John and Mary married Edward. They were both sons of Edward Slattery and Julia Callahan, and that is why your relatives know of the Slattery’s. The Tom Slattery who wrote the letter is their grand-nephew. I never met Tom, but I spoke to his wife Nona a few times. Tom had been quite ill for several years before he died."

You can find this information, too, on ancestry.com listed under member Elizabeth Jennings.
