I just want to check I am in the right parish before I write a longer message about my search. My father's birth certificate states he was born in Ballinilard, Tipperary R.D. in 1926. It seems to be part of Tipperary Town but I am confused by 2 other place names - Ballynilard and Ballinalard. Are these different spellings of the same place or different places? Also wondering if R.D. means rural district? Thanks to anyone who can help.

    Hello again!

There are no townlands in Tipperary or anywhere in Ireland spelled Ballinalard or Ballinilard. It was not unusual for documents to show variant spellings for the same place name in this case, Ballynilard.

    RD stands for Registrars District.

  • Hi Jane

There is a marriage of James Lynch  and Annie Kelly Jan 21 1920 in the RC  church Lattin . Lattin is a small village just outside Tipperary town . The marriage was witnessed by Michael Lynch & Annie Crowe .James Lynch residence at time of marriage  is given as Kilfinane and Annie's as Clarkstown Lattin  . His father was James Lynch , her's Patrick Kelly .

There is an Annie Kelly daughter of Patrick in 1911 census http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Tipperary/Shronell/Shr…

Shronell is part of the parish of Lattin

Patrick - Annie's brother in above census was born in Lattin 19 June 1902 father Patrick Kelly mother Catherine Mohide

Patrick Kelly & Catherine Mohide were married in Lattin RC 14 July 1901 witnesses Patrick McCarthy & Mary Mohide . His father was Patrick and her's Michael Mohide

I can only find 1 birth for a Annie and that is Annie born 1 Nov 1897 to Kate Mohide

There is  birth for Catherine Mohide 21 June 1873 father Michael Mother Catherine Dwyer address is Corderry Aherlow

Patrick Ryan died Jan 18 1942 in Clarkstown Lattin the informant was his daughter Annie Lynch ..

    So - ! ? ! ?

I went looking for another marriage for a James Lynch and Annie Kelly in Ireland before 1926 - nothing ! If you don't think that the above is your James & Annie , then perhaps  they married in the North of Ireland or England etc ..

The early release of the 1926 census would help you massively as place of birth would be recorded and this would answer so many of your questions .

Have you ordered Christopher's birth cert to confirm that he is your uncle

Do you have any idea when your Annie died ?

I had a look at the list of civil bill officers for 1921 in Co. Tipperary and could not see a James Lynch listed

Sorry - I could not be of more help to you
