I am from Carmarthenshire, South Wales, but I do have Irish ancestors - my 3x-gt-grandparents were from Co. Tipperary. My 3x-great-grandfather was Michael Mahoney b. Abt 1831, I believe he may have been born in a little place called Clash in Ballymackey Parish. I have found a few records of his marriage to Bridget Cody, but I'm not sure if he was the same Michael Mahoney who was born in Clash. Are there any marriage records at all for Michael and Bridget that show his birthplace (and possibly his father's name as well)?
Thank you.

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
If Michael and Bridget were RC and married before 1864, only church records would possibly exist. Any church record located would not show the birthplace of either the bride or groom and would not show the parents names. Civil records starting 1864 show the names of the fathers of the bride and groom.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Yes they were RC, and married in 1856 in Nenagh Parish (probably Nenagh itself). I can't think of any other way of trying to prove, if it is possible if Michael was indeed born in Ballymackey Parish.

Does Clash still exist today? I had a look on Google Maps - although when I typed Clash, Tipperary it appeared in the drop down list, but when I look at the place all I see is countryside and about 2 or 3 houses

Clash is a “townland” which is a system of land administration unique to Ireland. There's not necessarily a town in atownland. Clash consists of 440 acres and in 1901 there were 17 houses there with a total of 70 people:

In 1901 it was agricultural land and is probably the same today.
