Hi All,
Recently, I made a connect to my 3rd great grandparents who were married in the parish churcch of Tartaraghan on 15 February 1848. I purchased a certified copy so I am confident the information is probably accurate.
Richard Dowd, widower who resided in Drumcree married Susanah nee Matchett, widow who resided in Derrinraw. Father of the groom was Hugh Dowd, farmer. Father of the bridge was Richard Matchett, farmer.
And there the trail ends for now. Since the couple were married by banns in the United Church of England and Ireland, I am hoping to locate additional church records.
Also, I'm trying to find Drumcree and Derrinraw's location but to this point have not found more than a road by that name.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Joan Webb Musser

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
Drumcree is a townland and civil parish just south of Tartaraghan civil parish where Derrinraw townland is lcoated. Both parishes are in the northern part of Co. Armagh. Like you, I tried to find the location of Derrinraw and Drumcree but you can't find the townlands of Northern Ireland counties on Google Maps like you can for the Republic.
I checked and Roots Ireland does not have the baptismal records for Drumcree or Tartaraghan parishes. It appears that the Tartaraghan records are held locally but I'm not sure if the Drumcree records are also held locally. Below are linkjs to the two parish churches if you want to contact them.
Please consider adding an XO Chronicle to our web site http://www.irelandxo.com/ireland-xo/history-and-genealogy

From my research, I believe Mary Matchett & James Venard (Vernart) are my great great grandparents, through Edward Venard (born 2 Sept 1879). Intersted in heraing about what infomation you have and where I could find it. I do have some infomation on James Venard (bn 1853) but not much on Mary Matchett.

How wonderful if found your gg's I can't add too much to Mary Matchet. I've gathered tons of Vennard information but always with the Vennard perspective. I descend from the Thomas Wrght Venanrd and Mary Taggart line. When they m'd at Tartaraghan 1846 Jun 3, he was weaver of Derrykeevan and she of Cloncore. By the time they were in Glasgow in 1881, he was a missionary for United Presbyterian (North Mavine) and she a missionaries wife. I went back to see what I have for James Vennard and Mary Matchett. If you have James already documented, then you likely have what I have. I had a quick search of masses of documents for Abraham Matchett. Found this:
5 Sep 1854
Benjamin Gilmore WILSON, full, bachelor, town missionary, Bradford, Yorkshire
Benjamin Wilson, farmer
Mary Jane MATCHETT, full, spinster, --, Armagh
Abraham Matchett, head constable
Married in the Church of St Mark according to the Rites and Ceremonies of the United Church of England Ireland by license, Benj'n Wade, Curate
B G Wilson, Mary Jane Matchett
Abr'm Matchett, William Scott
