Hi everyone.

I am looking for information regarding a Thomas Sadler, born about 1781 in Boyle, Roscommon, and married about 1810 to Jane Lougheed in Deerpark, Roscommon.

Thomas and Jane emigrated from Ireland to Upper Canada in about 1831.

I am particularly interested in learning more about Thomas's parents or any siblings or children of Thomas and Jane.

Thanks for any information you may have!!

Rodger

Welcome back! I noticed that you had earlier commented on another Sadler message that we had earlier this year.

I located a baptismal record for a Jane Sadlier in 1830 in the Boyle C of I church. I could not find a marriage record. Likely the marriage occurred in Jane's parish and Roots does not have the record ( I searched for all of Ireland). Did they really marry in 1810 or closer to 1830?

  • Thank you for your response, Roger!

Yes, according to my sources Thomas Sadler and Jane Lougheed married in Boyle in approximately 1810 and then emigrated from Ireland to Upper Canada in approximately 1831.

I believe Thomas and Jane emigrated with a number of Roscommon-born children (3 boys and 3 girls), including a boy named James who was born in approximately 1815.

I appreciate you taking the time to respond to my earlier enquiry!

    All the best,

    Rodger

  • Hello Rodger,

I am also trying to find any information on Thomas Sadler's parents! I did my DNA last year and built a family tree on Ancestry. I am a Sadler from Ottawa originally where many of the Sadlers came to from Roscommon. I have found ancestors around Fitzroy, Pakenham and Wilberforce, Ontario. I have also found a connection to Ormstown, Quebec but I'm not certain of them. If you found any new leads on Thomas Sadler's parents please let me know!

    Cheers,

    Bob Sadler

I went back into Roots Ireland and noticed that Boyle C of I baptismal records start in 1796. I did some searching and there were about seven records with no year and then records starting in 1813  I located four records for children of Thomas and Jane. One is the 1830 Jane. There is also and 183 Judith (see transcription below). There were also two no year records for Elizabeth and Mary.

There are also baptismal records where the father was Edeard Sadler or William Sadler. Both in Deerpark and I'm wondering if William and Edward were brothers of Thomas. See examples below.
