Hi, I feel like I may be looking for a needle in a haystack here. I'm looking for any links to my ggg grandfather, Peter Bradley, born in Newry about 1821.  On his marriage banns it states his occupation as a shoemaker and his father was Martin Bradley a Labourer. Peter married in Manchester in 1846, therefore had obviously left Newry by then.  Any leads on this would be greatly appreciated.

I have checked the baptism records for Newry co. Down but was unable to locate a record for Peter, also checked for a Martin Bradley in Newry without a result, do you have a source that clearly states that Newry was his birth place?

A lot of protestant records from that time were lost or did not survive, were they Roman Catholic or Church of Ireland ?

  • Hi,

Thank you for taking the time to look.  I don't know what religion he was, I know he was married in Manchester Cathedral?  It says on the 1851 census that Peter Bradley was born in Newry and that is the only link I have as to where he was from.
