My great-grandfather, John Edmonds, was born in the townland of Camea in the civil parish of Kilfeacle. He was baptised in the Catholic parish of Golden on 15 November 1841.
His parents were John Edmonds and the former Mary Leahy, who had been married in February 1836. They had at least seven children, all of whom were baptised in the parish of Golden. The siblings of the younger John all had their place of residence shown as Kilfeacle. He himself emigrated to Australia in 1865 and then to New Zealand.
Does anyone have more details of this family? It seems that my gr.-grandfather John may have been fostered to another family, and may possibly have lived in Co. Limerick before emigrating.

Hi Robert, There was only 14 Edmonds's in Co Tipperary in the 1911 census. One family lived in Kilfeacle , Sons John and William. A family of Edmonds lived in Parish of Knockavilla/Donaskeigh up to at least fifty years ago. Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi robert.
I saw your email on this site. John's mother, Anne, definitely came from Rathnaveen, north of Tipperary town. My greatgreatgrandfather (Timothy Leahy)was a witness at her wedding and was probably her brother. Her daughter, Catherine was a godparent for a number of her cousins (born to her Uncle Michael) in the 1860's. If you look at my family tree on ancestry.co.uk (LeahyMaeve), you will find details there. Some of the information on the tree is speculative; so far, I have been doing this tree from my chair, but I do plan to visit libraries etc, over time to confirm which bits are correct. However, I am certain about the facts above. How are you descended from John? Is he the John Edmonds who married Honora Melican and then Mary Tobin?
