Hello,
I have attached the obituary for my great-uncle, John Keane b. 1903. I have a couple of questions. First, is "Westport Parish Church" the actual name of the church? Second, the obituary says he is buried in Aughoval Cemetery, but there is no record on Find a Grave. Would that be the same cemetery, or is there an older cemetery?
Thank you for any information.

Welcome to ireland Reaching Out!
St. Mary's in Westport http://www.westportparish.ie/mass-times-confessions/st-marys-westport may be able to assist you with your questions on the cemetery. This site seems to indicate that the old cemetery is with the new cemetery but the gravestones may not have been transcribed by volunteers. http://www.irelandtravelkit.com/aughavale-cemetery-westport-co-mayo/

Hi, Ellen,
John (Jack) Keane was my great uncle, also. My grandfather, Patrick Joseph Keane born in 1908, was his brother.
Did you have any luck finding the grave? We will be in Ireland in the end of May.Thank you, Cynthia

Hi Cynthia,
I actually had my relation to Jack incorrect. He was my grandfather's first cousin. So, your grandfather, and my grandfather were first cousins.
Anyway, I did find his grave and it was a total fluke! I searched online pictures of headstones, and found a picture of his by chance. I haven't worked on my tree in while, so I will go look for it. My email is ellenkeaner@aol.com. If you email me, I will send you what I have. I believe his headstone is in the older part of the cemetery.
