Looking for the Luby's that lived in  Kiltimagh, County Mayo in 1977.  Rose, my grandmother, was born on the outskirts of  Kiltimagh before she migrated to the US.  I had the opportunity to visit there back in the 70's.  The old homestead was still standing although a newer house was built on the property. A cousin Rose lived there with her sons Michael and, I cannot recall the other name! My grandmother married a McGlynn, that had migrated to New Orleans shortly before the Civil War era.

    Any chance your grandmother was actually Mary Rose and not Rose? See 1885 baptismal record below. The family lived in Cuiltybo townland in Kilcolman civil parish. Here is the 1901 census record

    I checked the online Irish phone book and did not see a Luby near Kiltimagh.

  • Yes, the outlying Cuiltybo is correct.  I am the youngest in the generation so I would have the name backwards!  Thank you so much. I am imagining the two sons moved on. I am also imagining that their birth records would be in the same Parish?
