I am searching for information regarding my great, great, great grandfather, Christopher Leavy.  He was born about 1788 and married prior to 1808. I suspect he was born in Longford and relatives tell me this is true.  However, I have no documentation. He and his wife, Jean Dinnegan had five known children born in Longford County. I do not have a death date for either of the parents. The name of the children and their christening dates are indicated below.  They were Roman Catholic.

1.        Hugh-August 2, 1808

2.       Margaret-October 20, 1810

3.       Catherine-January 23. 1813

4.       James-August 27, 1815 

I think there is a possibility that this child died, as the fifth child appears to bear the same given name. 

5.        James-September 15, 1817. He immigrated to Montreal, Quebec.  The specific date is unknown.  He was however married in Quebec in 1851 and died there in 1886.

 

I am hoping to learn if there were more children and possibly information regarding Christopher’s parents.  Any information for Christopher Leavy and his family would be so appreciated and I would be immensely grateful.

    I was unable to locate the marriage record and I suspect that Jean/Joan Dinnegan was from a neigboring parish where records started later. I did find three possible baptismal records for younger children. The third record shows the mother as Brigid instead of Joan. Possibly the priest confused the child's name and the mother's name.
