Does anyone have any information about Mary Byrnes who at the age of 15 was sent to Australia as an Irish Famine Orphan on the vessel Thomas Arbuthnot arriving New South Wales 1850. Her parents are listed as Patrick & Fanny, both deceased, from Ballynakill, I have no further information but am wandering if she is related to my Byrnes family of Ballynakil as per Patrick Byrnes 1840 post

  • Hi Chris

I just replied to your earlier post about Patrick. I had a look for a baptism in Galway between 1830-1840 for Mary but without success. Her birth year does predate the records for above parish, so if she was born there, there will be no church or civil record of her birth. It could be that she is related to Patrick but there are no available records to verify this relationship at this point.

    Best wishes
