Hi Tom,
I hope you're well too. Thank you for your post and information, it's wonderful. I've recommenced researching and was actually working on the Shortis/Cleary link this afternoon. Serendipity. I was about to close the computer down for the night but couldn't resist the temptation to reply now. Yes it's very interesting. I note their first child Elizabeth was born out of wedlock July 1835 and they didn't marry for another 5 years? I was wondering if the 1846 birth for John (Co.Waterford) is Joanne in 1846 (Co.Tipperary) but mispelt in Latin?
I've started concentrating on the Shortis link, with the intention of working backwards slightly, sidewards and down. I've made contact with Patrick Shortis in Kilkenny via his daughter thanks to your sites suggestions. I think Patrick's (1792) older brother is James (1789), but I wondered if they had an older brother John and their father was John too?
I visited our State Library yesterday for an exhibition, forum and film on the Easter Rising, it was very informative and interesting.
I'm looking to visit later in the year, so I'm really looking to finalise alot of the research.
Thanks again.
Kerry

Hi Tom, hope your reseach is keeping you busy. I am still delving into various lies in tree. I came accross your record of the marriage of Jacob Shortis and Mary Lonergan in 1842 would you know if they had a child called John Lonergan Shortis born 1 Dec 1841 in ? Cahir or Cahel Tipperary I,m trying to see were he fits in .
Denise from Aus. ps heading back to Ireland next year, my son is marrying an Irish lass, funny how things go in circles.

Hi Tom, I hope you're well and enjoying summer. Please book me in for August 21st. After checking with friends, if I can do the 19th I'll advise. It's a bit of a juggling act. I have a cousin visiting Cahir 4th & 5th August. I won't be in Ireland at that stage, but is there a chance he could meet up with you? Kind Regards, Kerry.

Hi Tom,That's terrific, I'm looking forward to meeting you. If I can do the 19th I will, but definitely 21st. My cousin will be travelling from Killarney on the morning of the 4th August, would it be possible to meet a little later after 11am? He has said if you can't you can't, but he would like to meet with you if possible. Thanks again, Kerry

Hi Kerry have been rereading past posts on my Shortis connections. I am curious to know . Which child of Michael was your Grandfather. I have Michael Shortis (1837) as having all sons is that correct. I presume you live in Australia. I have resumed takling the Shortis tree again, i find it very confusing at times, so may similar names and miss spellings. would you have any details on John and Micheals sisters Mary 1835 and Margaret 1839. I presumed they married and stayed i Ireland? I am the great granddaughter of John & Johannas daughtrer, Johanna who married Baker, Kathleen Baker is my mothers cousin. Denise
