Their children: Michael baptised 07-Aug-1873; Mary born 10-Jan-1875; Catherine baptised on 11-Mar-1877; William born 06-May-1879; Margaret was baptised on 11-Jun-1881; Ellen born 24-Nov-1883; Patrick born 04-Feb-1886; Bridget born 09-Jan-1888; John baptised 03-Aug-1890; Thomas baptised 08-Nov-1892 and Martin baptised 02-Jul-1895.

If you are able to open it. you will see that I have the information on their children.What I need to do is to determine that their son Michael is to be identified with my grandfather. I have a lot of circumstantial evidence, (my grandfather named his first son William; my grandfather's father-in-law is closely related to the Tiernan Family of the Leaha area) but no definitive evidence. I ruled out a different Michael Curley because he was still living in Ireland when my grandfather was already in Pennsylvania. This Michael I have not ruled out yet, but I can't quite rule him in. I am hoping that a descendant of William and Honora would have information that would connect their Michael to my grandfather.

  Ok, that particular Curley family, moved due to the resettlement acts in the early to mid 1900, to a new farm in the parish of Kilbegnet........paddy Curley lived at Skehard, Creggs , co Galway, his brother William lived at Ballinaheglish county Roscommon, both men are now deceased in recent years, they have both got sons living and farming locally at skehard Creggs.

Martin Curley passed along a letter from me to one of the Curley descendants, but I never received a reply. I would love to get in contact with them. Ideally, one of them would agree to take a DNA test (I would pay for it). I am almost certain (based on DNA and the paper trail) that they are my close relatives, but I would like to be sure.

  Can u leave it this with me for a few days, the area that ur ancestors were born is only over the road from me, I know the families that I assume connected to  you,I will check my records for the Curleys of leahive....there's an elder gentleman Danny Brennan  who holds an immense knowledge of the people of this area.....

               My mother went school with the Curleys, ... She is explaining to me , Paddy married  Maurice Kenny (still alive, a retired school teacher)from Ardmore Donamon, his brother William married a girl by the name Maloney of  Moate Kilbegnet (still alive). Then there was a sister to William an paddy  joined the Nuns, another sister married Joe Shally of coralackin creggs.(both dead)

I have just begun my search in Ireland for my only Irish roots. My fourth great grandparents were Bartholomew "Bart" Boyle 1802-1891 and Ellen Curley 1825-1905. They had at least one son born in Ireland named Hughbert Harry Boyle 1843. I believe they were may have been born in this area but later immigrated to America and settled in Wisconsin. I wonder if my Ellen Curley is connect to the ones mentioned above? I am still figuring out where all the places I can search for Irish records. Lots of new sources to comb through.

        I am dealing with two other enquirers at the moment,   What makes u think ur ancestors came from west Roscommon , east Galway region, ?  I live here in the area comprising the parishes of Fuerty, Athleague and a Kilbegnet, both Athleague and and Kilbegnet have districts in both of the above counties.

        I have been reseantly reaserching families from Athleague, and the as it happened they too  settled in  Wisconsin,  in and around Orma......looking at the names Curley and Boyle  , it's possible they too came from Athleague. The names of the Wisconsin settlers were. Mongan ,Flanagan  Tracey, ...etc. Ask me any question, 

I believe these to be my only Irosh ancestors, and would love to confirm where in Ireland they came from, and if possible who their parents are. The only information I have found is Ireland on US census records, but someone in an Irish genealogy group found a couple items that suggested the area, although I have nothing else to back it up yet. Hoping I can veify if it is accurate. I show my fourth great grandparents Bartholomew Boyle born in Ireland 13 Dec 1802 d. 13 Mar 1891 Richland, Wisconsin, USA and married to Ellen Curley born in Ireland 1825 d. 26 Apr 1905 in Richland, Wisonsin. Their son Hughbert Harry Boyle born in Ireland 21 Mar 1843 d. 22 Mar 1898 and married Agnes Abigail Basye (my third great grandparents).

I am sorry I have been out of touch for so long. I appreciate all that you have done to try to connect me to my Curley relatives. I am taking advantage of a break from school to try to do some more research and catch up with contacts.

I have been in touch with William Masterson, grandson of Martin Curley who, I believe, was my grandfather's brother. DNA continues to confirm my relationship to several Leaha/Leahive families. I just wish I could have some paper confirmation that my grandfather is the same person as William and Hanorah (Morrissey) Curley's son.

This is fascinating stuff! I've also been researching Curleys from Leaha who appear to be connected to Augustine's Curleys. My gg grandfather was Thomas Curley, born in Feb. 1852 to John Curley and Bridget (aka "Biddy" or "Delia") McCormick in Leaha. He emigrated ca 1870 to New York City and owned a saloon in the West Village neighborhood by the 1880s. I've traced some other members of this family who emigrated to New York and I'm curious to see where the various branches ended up (and how far back their emigration goes). Thomas's sister, Mary Ann Curley (b 1849), married Cyrus Jay Howard in New York in 1873. There was also a cousin, Michael Greeley (alternately spelled "Grealy," "Greely," etc), born to Richard Greeley and Bridget Curley in Kilbegnet in 1847, who came to New York ca 1865 and married Elizabeth Corless in 1880.

My suspicion is that those Pollock evictions drove many of these Curleys--much like other residents of Kilbegnet--to seek their futures elsewhere. There were numerous Curleys in the liquor business in New York City by the mid to late 19th century and I can't help but wonder if more of them were connected than what I've thus far been able to document.
