The Duffys you identified in your note are my ancestors.  Patt Duffy, I believe was the father of Anthony, John, and Michael Duffy.  Michael is my 2x great grandfather. He was married to Bridget Corcoran.

I would love to confirm that Patt Duffy is my 3x great grandfather <smile>. I also suspect that Anthony, John, and Michael probably had siblings but I do not know any of their names.

My son and I visited Kilcummin-Carrowtrasna back in 1998 and met some of our cousins on my great grandmother's side (her name was Bridget Killeen, her father was Owen Killeen from Ballinlena).

My wife and I once again visited the Kilcummin-Carrowtrasna area last summer (2015) and using a plot map and my GPS I found Michael Duffy's homestead in Carrowtrasna. If you go to Google maps at enter Carrowtrasna, Mayo, Ireland the remains of my Michael's home and farm buildings can be viewed.

I have an ancestor, Owen Killeen, married to a woman named Ann. I'm trying to determine if these could the the same family. Their daughter Ellen Killeen immigrated around 1860-1863. She was married in Windsor, Ontario. Marriage certificate lists Michael Killeen and Ann Healy as parents from county Mayo. They would have been born around 1825-30. Her death certificate in Detroit, however, lists Owen Killeen and Honore Joster as her parents. Ellen's children were named things like Miles Owen (nicknamed Mylo) and Honoria (also listed as Anna in records). Could your Killeen family include a sister Ellen Killeen?

My contact in the Duffy family at Barney has come back to me with the below, hope this in some way helps.
Apart from my great/great grandfather been around in 1833 there was another Duffy family that lived in Barney around the same time. My father showed me where they lived. It was between where I live now and Joe Cunniffes. I thought it was an old shed but my father said it was a family of Duffys that lived there. There was a big family of them and they were poor. They were threatened with eviction. The oldest daughter got enough money together to pay her way to go to America. There she saved and sent home money for each of her siblings one after another to go over to her. Her parents were the last ones to emigrate. The morning the parents were leaving all the neighbours gathered to say a fond farewell. That family of Duffys were noted for always having beautiful flowers growing outside in the garden. Each of the neighbours brought home with them a plant in memory of them. My father told me that they kept in touch with his parents (my Grantparents) for years until I suppose they died.

Looking thru some old emails as I am back looking in Rathreagh/Kilfian/Killala. We were able to figure out some more relationships from a death cert. Does not help much with Duffy’s. But wife of James Duffy was Bridget Kearney who was said to have two sister in obit that near made any sense and now does.

Turns out Caviston is a rare Mayo name basically only from Carrowkeel Rathreagh (sometimes listed as Kilfian or Killiala).   While James Duffy and Bridget Kearney married in USA is seems this whole family only married people from same area of Mayo.
