Hello again! Two possible Thomas Kiernan records found in Granard RC on Roots Ireland. See below. I also found an 1819 baptismal record for a Michael Kiernan in Granard with the same parents as the first Thomas record below. I was unable to find the marriage record and who know maybe it occurred in Abbeylara.

Roger, thanks for the info.. these Granard births are worth me pursuing some more.. I see you replied to all 3 of my requests ( Co. Meath & parish of Abbeylara ). As you can see I have multiple conflicting inputs about my Kiernan ancestors. I have already search most parish records, which ones that are available, and the Co. Longford Library & Archives as well.

Hello, I might be able to help you with this if you are still looking. I do a lot of NYC research. It is possible frquently now to get parents names off of marriage and death records, so very possible we can find the family that way. Also, the baptism and marriage parish records are often available and I have access to those databases. Peggy, thanks for the interest and offer. I believe I have now found my family in the RC parish of Oldcastle, Co. Meath records. I have found Thomas and Mary marriage ( 1833 ) and their 5 children's baptisms given it required some effort due to variants in the Kiernan and McGovern names. Researching the children's baptismal sponsors I believe they all came from the parish of Moylagh and in the townlands of either Milltown or Springhall. I have done alot of research in NYC of the family once they arrived ( earliest record is 1850 US Census.) and have all appropriate death, births, marriage, census records. The one record that eludes me is their immgration records. Last son, James was baptized in Ireland in Nov 1848 and I know they were in NYC by August 1850. Also the oldest son, Edward, born in Feb 1840 in Ireland disappears from the records after the 1855 NYC Census. I always think he probably was drafted during the civil war and never returned. Peggy, thanks for update. I have seen this record and am becoming more convinced that this Edward is the son of Thomas & Mary. The timing better fits my expected timeline. What is frustrating is that it he appears to be traveling alone with none of his siblings or parents. I need to research more thru the immigration records.
