RC church records for Gort parish start in 1848 for baptisms and 1853 for marriages. Civil registration started in 1864. So if Michael and Catherine were married in Gort, no record would be available. Were any of their children born 1848 or later?

Thank you Roger. Their son John was born in Derrybrien,Galway. Other children were born in US. Have no information for sister Mary.

I have a relative whose name is Margaret Daly (born Derrybrien in the mid to late 1800s). She emigrated to Louisville in Kentucky in the late 1800s. She married a Burke from Peterswell Gort. I dont know if they both went to Louisville together or if they met out there. Margaret Daly went to Louisville initially with her sister Bridget Daly (1868-1941), but Bridget returned and married Patrick Quinn (1833-1936). I know that Margaret Daly was married to Burke for some time in Louisville. He may have died and I think she remarried a man called Gasser. Margaret Daly had approx 4 or 5 children in Louisville. I dont know if those children were Burke or Gasser. Some of their names were John Joe, Mary and Bridget....I think their surmane was Burke and not Gasser. So my question is, does anybody know which Burke from Peterswell in Gort Margaret was married to? She lived at an addreess in Louisville and that address was Dixdale Avenue, Louisville. Would be great to find out also if anybody knows of John Joe, Mary and Bridget and who theri decendants are in Louisville. Thank you very much!

Mary Ann Burke, Hi there this Mary Ann was born in 1819 and died in Scotland 1879.  She married Martin Mahon from Gort born about 1801 he also died in Scotland 1864.  Mary Ann’s father was Matthew Burke born at least 1795 ?  Hope Matthew may give us some leads or links.  Kind regards Niki :-)
