Hi everyone!  My sister and I are hopeful that we can obtain more information about our ancestors thru this site. Our grandfather was born and baptized Robert William Sullivan in Ballinrobe around 1866. He was one of many children and we would like to know if any of his siblings or their families still live in Ireland or emigrated to the USA like him. I can post a bit more info after I talk with my sister. She's the one who keeps the records! Thanks Kahy Sullivan Keller

  • Hello Clare, I'm Kathy's sister Patricia. Actually our grandfather's name was William Sullivan, son of Frank Sullivan and Mary Duffy, baptized 2nd August, 1862 at St. Mary, Ballinrobe. I visited almost 3 years ago, and was fortunate enough to see his record of baptism. We would love to know if other siblings (Mary, Honore, Bridget, ?) stayed in Ballinrobe or elsewhere in Ireland.

    Grateful for your time,

    Patricia

  • I am looking for anyone related to the late Johnny Sullivan, friend of Tim Duffy, who lived in Ballinrobe.

    Thank you!

  • Hi Patty

As a starting point have you tried using the parish records on rootisireland.ie or familsearch.org to see if you can find a marriage record for Bridget, Mary, John, Ellen or Honor (siblings of William)? Another way to locate descendants into the 1950s and 1960 is through the Cancelled Books. Unfortunately they are not yet available online but you can find out more about them here:

    http://www.irish-genealogy-toolkit.com/revision-books.html

I wasn't able to find a Griffith's Valuation record for Frank Sullivan though in Ballinrobe, but there were other Sullivans there:

Do you know what his occupation was, did he lease land outside of Ballinrobe?

Also for your interest, there is mention of a William Sullivan in Curragh in the Tithes in 1827, perhaps one of your Sullivan family:
