I am trying to back trace Bridget Ryan and Catherine Ryan.  Delia/Bridget born April 1867 St Mary's Athlone and her sister Catherine born april 1864.  I think borth immigrated to the Albany Ny area in the mid 1880s.  Their parents were James Ryan and CAtherine Henson - both from St Marys's. There may have been other sibligs- Elizabeth born1872, a Margaret born 1856, christopher born 1860 and a Marian born 1858.

Any help greatly appreciated

Thank you so much for the reply.  I have membership in Ancestry.com and root.ie so I was able to locate the information you had sent.  I was wondering if there are any other research areas I should look at- I've looked at the the census and Griffiths....wanted to see if someoe on the boards knew the family or if there was a way to find any information concerning their possible emmigration to america

    Best regards,

  • Darleen:

You may want to consider autosomal DNA testing which will identify matches on both your paternal and maternal lines. You may find someone who matches your Ryan/Henson line and has more info on the family.

Hi Dee - Michael Henson in Tithe Applotment for Island Boy.  Islandboy is from Irish Oilean Bui, yellow island.  It is close to the river Shannon and so named because its land is liable to flood, when the flood subsided yellow or golden flowers grew. (There is also a Golden Island closeby)
